While National Black Cat Day (October 27th), is now an opportunity to give black kitties the kudos they deserve for being great companions and raise awareness about the irrational aversion to adopting them, Black Cat Day has its own history here at New York Life.
Every Friday the 13th, many superstitious people take extra care to avoid accidents. In the 1960’s New York Life dubbed each Friday the 13th “Black Cat Day” sometimes giving black cat themed rewards for agents who topped the lists of applications for accident and sickness insurance.
