On Feb. 9, New York Life launched Golden Futures, a new program designed to support families at critical moments — when passions take shape and futures begin to feel possible.

What is “Golden Futures”?

Golden Futures brings together two programs, the Golden Futures Awards for children ages 5-16 and the Golden Futures Scholarship Program for high school juniors and seniors. Together, they represent a $380,000 commitment to helping families invest in preparing their children for the future.

"Golden Futures is how we bring ‘More powerful, together’ to life for families," said Lisa Thomsen, CVP and head of Digital Marketing and Sponsorships, New York Life. "When we support a child's early passion or help a student build financial confidence, we're demonstrating the role New York Life plays in people's lives not just today, but over time."

For kids

The Golden Futures Awards recognize that every passion starts somewhere. Parents and guardians across the country can nominate their children by sharing a photo or video that captures what makes them light up, whether that's a dance recital, a science experiment, an athletic achievement or a creative project.

Approved submissions will appear in an online gallery where family, friends and community members can show support through voting. From these entries, 100 children will receive $1,000 to continue pursuing what they love.

For high school students

The Golden Futures Scholarship Program combines financial education with meaningful scholarship opportunities. Students complete interactive modules on topics like budgeting, saving and credit, helping students build practical financial skills before applying, for scholarships of $10,000 or $20,000. Twenty scholarships totaling $280,000 will be awarded to students across four geographic zones nationwide, helping make college, university or trade school more accessible.

Why New York Life is doing this

Golden Futures builds on the award-winning Financial Empowerment Scholarship we launched in 2025, expanding our reach to younger children and their families while maintaining strong support for high school students preparing for their next chapter.

This initiative reflects something many of us already know: When young people have support at critical moments, when their passions are encouraged and their learning is rewarded, they build the confidence to carry their dreams forward. Golden Futures amplifies that commitment at a larger scale.
