We’re living in a pivotal time when it’s imperative we build on our legacy of support for the Black community as part of our ongoing commitment to support an equal and just society. With that in mind, the New York Life Foundation is providing funding to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.  and other groups that are at the forefront of the social justice movement. A new $1 million grant to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund follows a $1.5 million multiyear commitment made in December of last year.

New York Life’s employees also have the ability to make an impact through matching donations and volunteer opportunities. New York Life will match employees’ and agents’ contributions up to $5,000 to the following organizations:

NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., one of the country’s foremost civil and human rights legal organizations

  • National Urban League, an organization that advocates for economic and social justice for Blacks
  • Race Forward, which partners with communities, organizations, and sectors to build strategies to advance racial justice in policies, institutions, and culture
  • Equal Justice Initiative, a nonprofit that seeks to end mass incarceration, excessive punishment, and racial inequality
  • HCBU Foundation, a nonprofit that provides scholarship aid to deserving students attending historically black colleges and universities
